Nelson Canario, IMI Vice President, began working with Esperanza during this past school year. Nelson received an Esperanza scholarship as an undergrad at The College of Wooster, and wanted to give back to the community. In the fall of 2015, he began volunteering in the Family Engagement Program, as a teacher for Esperanza’s English as a Second Language classes. Drawing upon his substantial experience as a Director of English-language schools in China, he has also provided in-service training to fellow volunteers, who may not have teaching experience at all, much less language teaching experience. Nelson is pleased to contribute as Esperanza lives up to its name, giving ‘hope’ to the community!
